PSRB Attorneys Speak on Current Topics for Mental Health Center Managers
On Thursday, November 5, 2015, George M. Plews and Shelley M. Jackson gave presentations on various topics of current operational issues in an education seminar for the Friends of Indiana Mental Health Centers. The program was attended by community mental health center executives and senior managers from throughout the State of Indiana.
Matt Brooks, the Executive Director for the Indiana Council of Community Mental Health Centers, opened the program with a discussion of recent legislative developments and looming state agency initiatives. Mr. Plews covered a number of topics relating to insurance coverage that may be available for an expanding array of regulatory and payment compliance matters as well as professional liability claims unique to behavioral health providers. Ms. Jackson discussed rulemaking activity by the United States Department of Labor regarding wage and hour issues as well as employment-related practices that can be a source of heightened exposure for healthcare providers. The program concluded with an overview of the developments in telemedicine under Indiana law, with some insights taken from national trends that may affect Indiana providers.
