Shelley M. Jackson to Present on Leveraging Human Resources Best Practices to Manage Risk

Shelley M. Jackson will present at the Spring Conference of the Indiana Council of Community Mental Health Centers on Thursday, May 12. Her presentation, “Practice Makes (Almost) Perfect: Leveraging Human Resources Best Practices to Manage Risk,” focuses on planning, organizational culture and assessment, and the legal environment of human resources management as it relates to community mental health centers. Her program will discuss how developing strategic human resources management practices can benefit a healthcare organization by focusing on key human resources functions, the significance of human resources management to present and future healthcare decisions, and determining the organizational systems that affect organizational outcomes.

Jackson is a member of the firm’s Healthcare and Life Sciences Practice Group and practices from the firm’s Indianapolis office. She routinely counsels healthcare industry clients in regulatory compliance, risk management, and litigation matters, with a particular emphasis on professional license defense, employment-related issues, and insurance coverage matters. Jackson is a graduate of Ball State University (1996 – B.S.), Indiana Wesleyan University (2001 – M.Ed.), and she earned her Juris Doctorate in 2007 from Indiana University’s McKinney School of Law. She received Indiana Lawyer’s Up and Coming Lawyer Award in 2010, Marion County Bar Association’s President’s Award for Outstanding Service and Achievement in 2011, and has been selected each year since 2012 for the Rising Stars list published in Indiana Super Lawyers.  Jackson routinely speaks on a variety of healthcare and employment law related topics, including general risk management, professional license defense, wage and hour issues, employment discrimination, and worker classification.
