PSRB Statement on Social Justice and Equality
“Not everything that is faced can be changed.
But nothing can be changed until it is faced.”
– James Baldwin
The tragic deaths of George Floyd, Ahmaud Arbery, Breonna Taylor and many others have sparked protests across the country along with calls to action to address systemic racism and biases that undermine the American values of liberty, equality, and justice for the Black community and the defenseless and oppressed people throughout our communities. We condemn racism in whatever form it takes—not only in the justice system but in our economic, educational, social and cultural lives. Plews Shadley Racher & Braun LLP supports the Constitution and its protections and joins the calls for positive, lasting change to fight injustice. We publicly reaffirm our commitment to equal justice for all Americans, no matter their race, religion, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, ability, or age. In particular, we acknowledge the pain, anger and disenfranchisement felt by the Black community as a result of anti-Black discrimination in the administration of justice in the United States and we stand with those advocating for change to fight injustice.
As a law firm, we are called to be problem-solvers and defenders of justice. We recognize that we are uniquely positioned to identify and respond to injustices that we observe and to do our part to ensure that everyone is treated with dignity and afforded access to justice. None of us can fix the flaws in our judicial and societal systems single-handedly. Nevertheless, Plews Shadley Racher & Braun LLP renews its commitment to face them, to listen and to work together toward a more impartial and inclusive society that truly provides every individual with equal protection of the law.
