Plews Shadley Racher and Braun LLP is pleased to announce that Peter M. Racher has been elected by his partners to serve as managing partner of the firm, effective January 1, 2019. Racher succeeds John D. Moriarty, who will conclude his service in this role at the end of 2018 and will continue to focus on his work in the areas of litigation, insurance coverage and environmental law.

“We celebrated the firm’s 30th anniversary in 2018 and I’m eager to see what comes next,” said Racher. He has seen the law firm grow from six lawyers to nearly 40. He attributed the firm’s success to its commitment to legal excellence and combination of collegiality, tenacity and client-comes-first culture. “When clients hire our firm, they’re hiring a band of brothers and sisters who are fiercely committed to each other and to the client’s cause,” Racher said.

Racher prosecutes and defends environmental cost recovery claims, helps clients analyze environmental risks, and handles a broad range of litigation matters. He is lead counsel in a pending lawsuit under the Indiana Access to Public Records statute against the state Department of Correction seeking to compel the production of records related to carrying out executions by lethal injection in Indiana. Last month, an Indianapolis judge ordered the DOC to comply with the records request.

In addition to Racher, the following Plews Shadley Racher & Braun partners have been elected to serve on the firm’s Management Committee for 2019: Christopher J. Braun, Jeffrey D. Claflin, Shelley M. Jackson, George M. Plews, and Amy E. Romig.
