We seek to hire people interested in outstanding law careers in a variety of sophisticated areas, such as litigation, transactional law, insurance law, health care law, and environmental law, who share our enthusiasm for hard work and intellectual challenges. Having grown from six people at our founding in 1988 to more than 60 attorneys and staff today, we are often looking for new talent.
We recruit attorneys from the top schools in the country. Included among our ranks are, or have been, attorneys educated at Harvard, Columbia, Berkeley, Michigan, SMU, Indiana, George Washington, Vermont, and Notre Dame, as well as those with degrees from Princeton, Yale, University of Chicago, Wabash, Purdue, Rose Hulman, Oxford University and many other great institutions. We consistently seek to hire students who graduate at or near the top of their class.
We typically hire summer associates, some of whom continue
as student associates throughout the year. We participate in on-campus-interviewing programs at select law schools and accept resumes
from qualified candidates throughout the year. Our program is not the traditional “wine and dine” program of other firms. We truly expose students interested in legal careers to the practice of law. We give our summer associates meaningful projects and expect them to serve as members of our team. Students leave with an understanding of what associates at our firm actually do, and we obtain a much better idea of their skills as prospective attorneys.
Our compensation and benefits are competitive with many top firms. Attorneys receive an annual time bonus for billable hours above 1,800. Associates are also eligible for discretionary bonuses.
We hire new attorneys, experienced associates and of counsel. Many of our attorneys came from top firms in New York, Washington D.C. and other urban centers, as well as from major corporations and prestigious judicial clerkships. In addition, our attorneys often have specialized degrees and have had significant careers prior to practicing law in fields helpful to our practice, such as engineering, biology and journalism.
We have an exceptional staff of paralegals and legal assistants. They are a valuable part of our team. We hire paralegals and assistants with years of experience in the legal field, those with significant relevant industry experience in fields such as environmental management and insurance, as well as bright college graduates who are considering a career in law and would like to take a closer look.
In addition, we hire a variety of other talented people in fields such as accounting, marketing, and administration.
