Andrea K. Townsend Who We Are

Andrea K. Townsend, Associate Back to Attorney List

Andrea Townsend represents clients in complex civil litigation cases often involving environmental, insurance coverage, and commercial law.  She also handles real estate and environmental regulatory and transactional matters.  Additionally, Andrea focuses a portion of her practice on appeals, having participated from both the judicial and advocacy perspectives in Indiana’s state appellate courts and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals

Prior to joining the firm, Andrea practiced business and general civil litigation, as well as appellate advocacy.  Before that, she served as a law clerk for the former-Chief Justice of Indiana, the Honorable Brent E. Dickson.  And while a law student, Andrea interned for the Honorable Tim A. Baker of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana and the Honorable Margret G. Robb of the Indiana Court of Appeals.

Andrea is an involved and passionate member of her legal community.  A member of the Indianapolis Bar Association since 2010, Andrea serves on the Bar Review Working Committee and Bench Bar Retreat Social Planning Committee. With the Indiana State Bar Association, Andrea serves as a Young Lawyer Liaison to the Law Student Committee and has helped the group form its annual moot court competition. She also is part of an ISBA focus group that aims to connect millennials with legal resources via social media.  Each year, Andrea also makes time to judge law school moot court competitions, as well as the We the People civic competition for high school students.  Andrea’s pro bono activities include the Ask-A-Lawyer Program.

Andrea is also active in her Indianapolis and Fishers communities, serving as vice-president of her neighborhood’s homeowners’ association and a planning committee member of the Indianapolis Sailing Club’s Snipe Fleet’s open regatta.

Andrea earned her B.B.A. degree in Accounting, summa cum laude, from the University of Notre Dame in 2010 and her J.D., summa cum laude, from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2013.  While in law school, as Symposium Editor for the Indiana Law Review, Andrea brought in national academic, business, and governmental figures to share their experiences on “Law and the Financial Crisis.”  She also achieved, in the moot court competition, a place on the Order of Barristers and the prize of Top Advocate in the preliminary rounds.  At graduation, Andrea was awarded the Faculty Prize from her professors in recognition for her scholarship, leadership, and service.
