Overview

Andrea Townsend focuses her practice in the areas of environmental law, commercial real estate, zoning and land use, business and commercial services, insurance coverage, and complex litigation. Andrea regularly assists clients with all aspects of environmental matters, including due diligence investigation, compliance, cleanups, cost-recovery actions, and Brownfield redevelopment. She has successfully navigated numerous clients through corporate and real estate transactions, including advising on corporate formation strategies, negotiating complex asset, stock, or real estate purchase or lease agreements, and assisting clients in completing requisite transactional due diligence. Andrea also frequently works with policyholders in a wide array of insurance coverage matters, including archeology searches for policies, claims handling, coverage disputes, and risk management and policy procurement. She also represents clients before zoning boards, planning commissions, and local legislative bodies throughout the State of Indiana. Her clients include real estate investors and developers, non-profit entities, municipalities, industrial/manufacturing businesses, dry cleaners, and petroleum and agricultural companies.

Additionally, Andrea focuses a portion of her practice on appeals, having participated from both the judicial and advocacy perspectives in Indiana’s state appellate courts and the Seventh Circuit Court of Appeals.

Prior to joining the firm, Andrea worked in various public sector roles including with the former-Chief Justice of Indiana, the Honorable Brent E. Dickson, the Honorable Tim A. Baker of the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Indiana, and the Honorable Margret G. Robb of the Indiana Court of Appeals.
