Matthew D. Neumann focuses his practice in a variety of areas including complex litigation, environmental litigation, business and commercial disputes, insurance coverage, construction law and other general, civil litigation areas.  Matthew’s practice also extends to corporate law and real estate matters.  Matthew has experience advising and representing businesses, individuals, and governmental and nonprofit organizations through varied and complex legal matters, including managing the risks of litigation when disputes arise and evaluating business opportunities for clients.  

Prior to joining Plews Shadley Racher & Braun LLP, Matthew was an associate attorney at Hackman Hulett & Cracraft, LLP in Indianapolis, IN where he practiced in the areas of civil litigation, insurance defense and commercial and business litigation, with experience in cases involving insurance coverage and defense, real estate transactions, utility regulation, condemnation, foreclosure, construction disputes, and general business matters.

Matthew is actively involved in the legal community.  Matthew will be the 2015 Chair of the Indianapolis Bar Association’s Young Lawyer’s Division and will also be on the Board of Directors of the Indianapolis Bar Association.  Matthew is active with the Indiana State Bar Association, including being on the Council of the Young Lawyers Section and a member of the Ethics and Pro Bono Committees.  He is a member of the Indy Chamber Ambassadors, the volunteer arm of the Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce.  Matthew also volunteers with Wheeler Mission Ministries.  Matthew’s pro bono activities include the Ask-A-Lawyer Program, the Homeless Legal Aid Project, and Legal Lines of the Indianapolis Bar Association.

Matthew received his B.A. degree in International Studies from Indiana University in 2006 and his J.D., magna cum laude, from Indiana University Robert H. McKinney School of Law in 2010.  While in law school, Matthew was a note development editor for the Indiana Law Review and authored “Is Indiana’s Voter ID Law a Bridge to Nowhere?” published in the North Carolina Central Law Review, Volume 32, Issue 1 (2010).
