December 13, 2013   Ali Sylvia Elected PSRB Managing Partner
By Plews Shadley Racher & Braun LLP

Plews Shadley Racher & Braun LLP (PSRB) is pleased to announce that Alexandra (Ali) S. Sylvia, Partner and Chair of the firm’s Real Estate Group, has been elected by her partners to serve as managing partner of the firm, effective January 1, 2014.  Sylvia will succeed John M. Ketcham, who will conclude his service in this role at the end of the year and return to the full-time practice of law in the firm’s insurance and complex litigation practice.

“Ali Sylvia is an outstanding choice to lead us as managing partner,” said PSRB Name Partner Chris Braun. “Ali has for many years been active in various firm leadership roles, has served on several different committees, and has an in-depth understanding of the firm’s clients, practice groups and business operations.” Braun added that “Ali has further honed her leadership and management skills externally by serving in several leadership roles for various boards and community service organizations.”

Braun added that Sylvia’s selection as managing partner “is the next logical step in her professional development as she has consistently demonstrated the leadership ability to think strategically as an organization, while also motivating those around her to perform at a high level operationally.”

“I am honored to assume the responsibility of leading this outstanding firm and upholding the firm’s reputation for providing high-quality legal services in a timely, cost-effective manner.  I am excited to be the second female partner to serve as managing partner,” Sylvia said.  “This is a very family-friendly law firm that gives women incredible opportunities and support while emphasizing a work/life balance for all of its employees.”

Sylvia has extensive experience in representing clients in the acquisition, disposition and leasing of various retail, office and commercial/industrial properties.  She also regularly represents clients in business formations and transactions, general corporate governance, environmental counseling, and health care & life sciences matters.  Sylvia is also actively involved in the Indiana State Bar Association (ISBA), serving as the ISBA’s Articles & Bylaws Committee Chair, the 2013 ISBA Annual Meeting Chair, and as the past Secretary for the ISBA’s Board of Governors.  She is the President-Elect of the Board of Directors for Indy Commercial Real Estate Women (IndyCREW) and is a member of the Advisory Board for Women’s Fund of Central Indiana.
